(Bill, Niel - not sure where to put this)

I am wondering if the current rebate program for solar installations includes second homes such as a cabin? Or does it just apply to your primary residence? I'm in NM.

i'm not too sure of the federal requirements, but for state it is usually for a grid tied system. recheck what's said on http://www.dsireusa.org/ to see the federal or your state's requirements.

yea, i am pretty sure its only for gridtie . thats why i always tell people who ask me about installing to go gridtie to maximize every cent of their investment, if you can. we got 40+% back here in MA a couple years ago, checkout link Neil gave you for your states policies. (in addition to the fed incentives)

As far as I can tell, the Federal program covers your off grid install IF AND ONLY IF that's also your full time residence. Most if not all of the state programs do not cover off grid at all, regardless of whether you live there all year.
