Generator stops

I have my generator starter connected to my trace inverter. When I start the gen. through the inverter it runs a few minutes and shuts down and within a few seconds it starts up again. this will continue untill I turn the gen. off at the inverter. However If I bypass the inverter and start the generater manually it runs without stopping.
Any Ideas.
BTW, I have 2 trace inverters connected together.
