radiant floor heat

Hi:

I'm planning on switching to a tankless propane water heater for my radiant floor heating system, and I was wondering if anyone had experience with this. Any recommendations? Brands that are useful or useless? I have an off the grid 12 volt system with an inverter, so running a unit with an electronic ignition is okay.

Thanks!

Make sure it is rated for radiant heating, not all of them are. I am thinking of doing the same thing. I have direct radiant baseboard, I need a temp of 160-180, most will not get that that high. If you are doing PEX indirect floor heat, then I think the temps are lower.

    Here are some that are:

The funny thing is when I was looking at tank less heater they are typically less efficient then a good power vented tank. Of course the standby losses are higher for a tank of hot water, but watch those efficiency numbers on the models. I have seen some tank less units in the 70's, not so good.

I have used the Rinaai Continuum a couple of times for radiant and both times it has worked great
