How to read the solar output chart/

So, this new Solar City system is supposed to be 4.75 KW. What does that mean exactly? The graph below shows the system producing about 3.5 KWH during the height of the day, but maybe those 2 numbers don't really compare? This is the first full day it's running so I have no history with it, but it's a nice sunny day out.

    It probably means there's approximately 4.7 kW worth of panels on the roof. From that you could reasonably expect a peak output of 3.6 kW due to the typical inefficiencies with hot panels, wire loss, and inverter conversion. Your number is not out of line with that.
