    Since the big utilities are still the provider of last resort as well as the ones wheeling the non-local power through to the customer, I am having fun imagining a news or natural event triggered "run on the power company" in which all of the local generators decide to or are forced to turn off their systems and draw from the grid instead, all at the same time.

    One possible scenario would the loss of natural gas to wide area, resulting in the electric grid going down too.
    A lot to think about. And definitely more impetus for the utility-scale battery bank.
